I'm still here and have no plans to leave. I at least have been making once a week lately, so yay for that. My infrequency has nothing to do with LJ and everything to do with RL, which means that it'd certainly be the same anywhere else. Still, I don't see DW as a "better" alternative, just an alternative, so I don't really feel the need to move. I'd hate to lose the friends going over there, but fortunately they're still "here" so it seems to me like it's win-win.
Honestly I don't see what the people who go to DW and crosspost everything are trying to accomplish, except for sending some kind of message. One has to assume that they eventually intend to stop posting here.
Mostly I was just curious, and it was painless enough to migrate. I'll probably stop crossposting eventually, but we're likely talking years.
On the other hand, I'm not renewing my paid account in May when it expires.
The other thing is, privacy issues aside, it is a genuinely better site. Cut sections in posts (not really lj-cut any more, I guess) load over AJAX, polls look better, the themes are more themey. If I could read LJ friend posts aver there I'd never come back.
For me it's that I've had thsi DW account for a while and been unhappy with the way LJ was going, but most of the people I want to interact with are still on LJ. Crossposting is a compromise for me - I post somewhere I like better, but the people I want to interact with still have access. Eventually I do intend to stop posting here, but things are a little uncooked yet for me to be ready to do that.
People over time migrate. You and Tucker are actually my only friends who've moved to DW, but I've had a few go to blogspot and a few shift their primary focus to Facebook, so in a way I think of it a bit like living in meatspace: some people live in different places than others, and some move when the weather isn't to their liking, and so on.
I would be unhappy if you two stopped posting here, but if you do then I guess we will have just moved completely to different "towns".
