I have a weekend off, I normally work Saturdays so when the rota deigns to give me to days together it’s a time for some serious R&R.
Except that I have a cold, and its raining, and it seems I’m going to be spending the morning on the Royal Albert Hall website trying to get four tickets for the Doctor Who Prom this year. The website has a waiting room! I am not in it yet, boo. I will not give in.
If I venture out of the flat today it will be for only two reasons, to get more milk or to get myself to the cinema and go see Iron Man III and/or Star Trek.
It could be a perfect weekend then to apply for a job going at work. Two people have hinted I should apply - a more senior job but I genuinely feel I’m under qualified as it’s very far from what I’m doing at the moment, plus its only maternity cover so would come to an end eventually. There is a job going for exhibition curator which while I’m not suitable a girl who’s been temporarily filling in the position is, though she doubts herself. I gave her the benefit of my years of experience in museums and heritage; the huge advantage of already having you foot in the door should not be wasted! Yes, she’s still doing her MA, still only 23 and daunted by the fact that the salary would be double what she has now, but go for it girl! Plus we like her, she’s grown in confidence since she’s been working here on an off for a year or so, be a shame to have to break in someone new.
Still can’t get on the Proms website, grr.
