So I have managed to carve out a moment here during my amazingly fantastic life-changing experience to fill you all in on some of the goings on (they are of course to numerous to get into entirely but here is a taste).
The hostel was AMAZING. the people there were honestly some of the best i have ever met and some for sure will be friends for a long time to come.
The first couple of days were whirlwind sightseeing. Did Versaille (blew my mind in a way i never knew possible...that Louis IV was an ambitious man). Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur (every night, best view of Paris ever) Eiffel tower, catacombs (heaaaavy), archaeological museum, D'Orsay (fav museum so far), £15 ($27) cappucino on the champs elysees kindly paid for by a south african mining engineer named Derek, the BEST food EVER, SOOOOO much wine, picnincking on the champs de mars, capoeira lessons with gorgeous Brazillian men in the Jardins Luxembourg, earning £40 by singing with a guitar playing street musician, and the list goes on and on. This place is filled with the most amazing magic and i just can't explain it...

for the past few days i have been staying with my host Matthieu. He is a pretty special person. I don't think I've ever met such a kind open hearted person. The first day we met he gave me a brand new european cell phone prepaid so we could keep in touch. since then it has been kindness after kindness and it has warmed my once frozen heart. and yet, all of the people i have met on my trip have been the same. I feel really lucky.
With Matt i have done all the non touristy things including going to the suburbs to have a huge dinner with his parents and some of his childhood friends. It was really cool to see how real people live here, not just what is in tourist books.

Today it's off to do the fashion thing in Paris (Matt is a fashion designer!!!) and then on Friday a girl i met and instqntly bonded with named Kathy (from vancouver, we were in the same hostel) is coming back to paris (after going to work for a theatre company in Laon for the past week) so that we can hang out. She is incredible...a new best friend for sure.

anyway, the weather is too beautiful to stay inside (mild hangover or not) so I am off to see the sights of Paris.

I hope everyone is well and i will write again from Roma.

ps, French men are devastatingly gorgeous...
