The pain is quite a bit better, considering. I did a half-massage and a full massage this weekend. Lots of ice. Lots of stretching. Lots of rest.
Today I went and did the first part of my fitness plan. I was fully assessed by a certified pro, from the top of my head to my feet. Body weight, body mass index, fat levels, stretching ability, heartrate resting and active, ability to lift, and so on.
The assessment said pretty much what I expected: I rock and then some at flexibility. Well above average! Go me! (The pro's immediate comment: Ah, you must do yoga.)
But my strength is rather puny, for my size and height and age, which is bad. I need to be stronger than your average bear. (The more supportive muscle surrounding the joint, the less pain I should experience.)
My body fat percentage is up higher than it needs to be, which is putting extra strain on the joints. Not by a lot, but by some. I'm well-padded in the womanly areas, ahem, but the biggest problem I think is that I've just plain lost a ton of muscle mass.
My heart isn't used to strenuous exercise (gardening is too mellow, now that I've finished making the beds).
My personal goal is this: I want to be able to lift the Pookie and carry him twenty feet. He is getting very stiff and sometimes he has trouble with the car. We're working on things, but if something were to happen, I need to be able to keep my boo bear safe. Currently, I can't really lift him. He weighs 72 pounds, so I'm sure it will take a while, but that is my firm goal. It's a need, not a want. I will do this.
I've got my next appointment already set up. Whoo~ ! Go me!
