"Can you believe these new girls? None of them use birth control. And they eat all the steak!"

Today was my birthday. I am 19. Old enough to still smoke cigarettes and die in war. It was actually a really nice day. At around 9:30am my mom and I went downtown to shop, and we girls are prone to do. We had some good conversation and I failed at getting boots, which was my aim. That's one tough thing about being tall. I really can't get boots with heels because they raise me more than an inch off the ground, thereby making me taller than almost anyone I know. But hell, if I half to sacrifice boots in favor of seeing over crowds at concerts, I'd be tall any day.

Mom and I had sushi at some place we'd never had sushi before. It was delicious. We then braved the scalding heat to get over on to Westheimer, to go to the galleria. We looked in a bunch of stores and mom got lots of things. Then she was dissapointed that I hadn't bought anything yet so we went upstairs to Urban outfitters. I got two pairs of pants. I like my pants =D I needed pants anyhow. They're cute too. I feel like a rockstar. By the by, make note of the rockstar theme throughout this entry.

So we returned, and I passed out and took a nap, waking up an hour later and remembering that my new computer wasn't stupid, like the last one. It had lovely things, like memory. So I went to work downloading shit from the lonely island, which I hadn't looked at all summer. My dad came over and I played him "The Heist", which had him cracking up.

Then everyone was here and they gave me my present (which by the way I had no idea was coming and hadn't asked for anything so pricey so don't think I'm all spoiled and whatnot). It's a guitar. Make note of the rockstar theme again. It's beautiful. I named it Elliott and then quickly went to work playing the six chords I know.

Elliott chilled in my room as we went to dinner - mom and Ernesto and Dad and me. I rode with Dad and we listened to Lake Wobegone. Then we ate. All was nice. Almost got into a talk about politics, phew, that was a close one. Food was good, then we departed. I'm hanging out with Dad tomarrow, I think.

Then I came back and played Elliott and then I watched Almost Famous, which I bought for myself as a present today. It helps me get into the mood for school, so now I'm even more super pysched to get back. Make note of the rockstar theme, just one more time.

So, all in all, good birthday. These were the notes I got on facebook:

I lied, I'm not in the mountains yet, so ferreal, happy birthday! I read part of YSKOV a few years ago on the way to the copy machine, and I loved what I read. Haven't had a chance to read the whole thing yet though. And speaking of Dave Eggers, I was just in the Berkeley hills yesterday reminiscing about A Heartbreaking Tale, and how much it was like my life. I've actually been reading On the Road this summer, along with several other books, and I find that it sucks. I never would have finished it if we had read it for class. I don't think I actually read any of the books that were on my MUST READ list. . . oh well
OOH! and I got the Ghostbusters 1&2, and the Sandlot, YAY! happy fun movie time.
Sorry this is so long, the returning home excitement has me all in a buzz. . . We're almost home!

Plus Paul sent me a greeting too. And he poked me.

Watch out tho. From the sound of Hurshini's note, it looks like there will me more upcoming songs "Written by Nyssa, sung by Hurshini". So, everything was good. Good birthday. Good night moon.
