What the HELL was that for?! Get back here you dumb sheep- I'm gonna kick your ass!!

[Well, isn't that something pleasant to hear? Anyone within the vicinity of New Bark Town just may have heard that shouting from somewhere other than their Pokegear... Perhaps an investigation is in order?]

[After a few startled moments thanks to the sudden loud yelling, Mitsuru takes it upon herself to investigate the shouting in order to discover the source of it.

And that is how she found Kanji]

I'm not quite certain that's a wise idea.

[And what Mitsuru would stumble upon is one (1) Kanji with his arms wrapped around the middle of a fluffy yellow Mareep. He's lifted the animal off the ground and holds it face-out against his chest; its Pokeball is in its mouth, its tail is wagging... And it's unintentionally using its Static ability to send BRRZAPP constant BRRZAPP static ZzzzZZZZAP shocks BzzZ into its trainer.]

What THE---TZZZZZZ Hell ARE-zzzzZZZZz you STARING-ZZZZTTZZZ at-- ?!

[thankfully Mitsuru has studies up on her Pokémon enough to actually know what's going on and give advice on how to fix it]

I'm staring at someone who clearly has no idea what they are doing. [though she can't judge, so she automatically launches into helpfulness] Judging by those noises, it's an electric type, which means unless you enjoy being shocked every few seconds, it would be prudent to put him down.

That said, you can keep him in the spherical ball in his mouth. He's likely to cause less trouble there.

[Well, she's right. Putting the source of his pain down might be a good start. He manages to let go of it, the Mareep slipping down onto the ground and landing on all fours. Kanji lifts a foot and proceeds to give the animal a light tap on the backside with his boot - a far cry from that ass kicking he's been going on about giving it.

It doesn't seem to mind and gives a little hop out of Kanji's reach again, still holding its Pokeball.]

See?! The little bastard is playing keep away with its house, how am I supposed to get it in there?!

[-- oh so that's what it's doing. Mitsuru blinks a few times as she watches it]

Perhaps it just needs exercise. It took some time for me to coax Penthesilea into her home, after all.

Coax a what into your what?

[This dream has suddenly taken a turn for the weird. How could his head make up a word he doesn't know? Is his head trying to teach him-- Aha! He must've fallen asleep at school again. That's got to be what's going on.]

I don't know whatever a... Whatever you just said is but maybe you're right. Maybe I need to tire it out before I tackle it and shove it into its ball.

-- ah, right. Penthesilea is the name I gave my creature.

I'm certain your sheep will be much easier to subdue once he's exercised for a while.

[Kanji pauses, looking over to he Mareep. It's inched closer to him, just looking up at him with its ball in its mouth.]

We're supposed to name them? Is that why mine isn't listening to me?

I was informed that we were allowed to. It seemed much easier than calling them by their species name.

Yeah, I guess it would get confusing it we all just called them "sheep".

-- ah, somehow I doubt it's species name is sheep.

[a few moments later she pulls out her Pokédex]

Mareep. Wool Pokémon. Its fleece grows continually. In the summer, the fleece is fully shed, but it grows back in a week.

[Listening to the Pokedex's explanation, Kanji squatted down to look at his apparent Mareep eye-to-eye.]

A Mareep huh?

[And the Mareep looks right back at its owner. If Mitsuru is looking closely at the info displayed on her dex, she'd notice this one happens to be female.]

Maa~~ reep~♪

I guess I'll call it... Mr. Sheep.

[... she notices, and the irony of the name makes her chuckle]

Are you certain? I don't think it's customary to refer to females as 'Mr.'

If Mr. Sheep wants to be a dude, it can be a dude.

-- if it truly wishes to be, then I suppose you have a point. And ultimately, the name is your choice.
