Synchronicity IS the Universe saying, "Koochie-Koo, you bastards!"

"Civilization" is merely a drop in the bucket of human history. Meanwhile, the bucket is filled to the brim with eons of hunting and gathering. Most of our problems can be explained by simply remembering this ( Read more... )

Well, I'm a poet and artist (cARToonist really) rather than a scientist. I'm using "Chaos" in the poetic, metaphorical sense to imply apparent disorganization, random happenstance, synchronicity, vast distances between one star and the next, etc. rather than the more tightly defined sense with which Ilya Prigogine might use it. The qualifiers "endless intricate" imply the Order one might find amongst the Chaos, but such "fantastic complexity" usually does *appear* Chaotic until we look deeper.

I think what I might mean by "the Universe is endless intricate Chaos, punctuated randomly by unsightly pockets of Order." is that for the most part, when we look around the natural world, at first glance, it appears to be entirely random and unexplicable. We can get around it with theories and speculations, but the parts of the Universe that we do understand, the parts that we can label and file away as solved puzzles, are vastly outnumbered by the enormous pieces leftover that just end up in the WTF? file. I tend to find the WTF? file more interesting. I'm sure most scientists do too which is why they spend all their time attempting to put more stuff in the "solved" category.

In the end, it is all just judgements made upon limited perceptions by chattering apes...

Did I really spell that "unexplicable"? I meant "inexplicable", of course.
