Swerve - Crunch - Bang - Slide - Ow
I never made it to work this morning, as a stupid fuck driving a flatbed truck made an illegal left turn from the right lane through me and my bike. My right leg is fucked up where his bumper hit me, but miraculously not broken. Some minor road rash through the jeans (still whole) and the heavy leather jacket (somewhat damaged, but still in one piece). The bike is likely totaled--there were many parts littering the roadway up the street from where I came to a stop.
Luckily, the guy behind me saw the entire incident and stopped to help out and give a statement. An ambulance arrived within two or three minutes after calling the Revere PD, and a Revere Motorman arrived seconds later. They took me to the local ED (Whidden? Widder? Something like that) on a back board 'just in case'. Several X-Rays of the right leg and left arm, nothing looked broken so they sent me home.
Aftercare? What's that? I had to walk (stumble, really) out on my own, carrying all of my gear, and arrange my own transportation home. Thanks.
On doctor's orders, I am home from work for the next few days to keep off the leg. Sometime today I should drive over to the Revere PD to pick up my license and bike registration, and to sign off on the incident report.
