So, cross your fingers for me. I ran into the former director of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission's(OCRC) Akron Office. She remembered me, sort of, and we got reacquainted briefly. She left me with her card, so I just e-mailed her.
I talked to Ted (my former supervisor, and current co-worker at my new job) about her, and what she is doing now. I knew she wasn't working for the OCRC anymore. Apparently she's working for this firm downtown and doing complainant civil rights work! My friend from Akron Law worked with her at the Akron Office and spoke VERY highly of her, so I'm hoping she opens up to me a little. Ted said something about her telling him he needed to send some Case kids her way. I'm hoping the e-mail I just sent her at least gets me an interview or something.
I know the idea of staying in Ohio is totally against EVERYTHING I stand for, but it could work out really well. I'd get some good experience working in the Civil Rights field, and Shawn would have a decent chance of getting matched up here at Cleveland Clinic or UH. When he finishes his residency, I'll have been practicing for 5 years, so will be able to lateral easily to somewhere else in the country. I might even be exempted into the bar in that area since I've been practicing for long enough.
Okay, back to studying and writing!!! AGH!!!!!
