The room was filled with a nicotine flavored smog. The only light drifted from multi-colored fictures 20 feet above the late night crowd. Even w/ the cooling system on full blast the building still sweltered, heat radiated from the sea of bodies rubbing past one another, the hot lights and lit cigarettes. The view from the slightly risen balcony was stimulating. A constantly moving crowd gathered near the bar and on the small vinyl dance floor, swaying with the rythms of the DJ; A baby dyke enters through the double doors at surrounded by a distant group of friends and a starry-eyed admirer; Another girl leans against her pool cue, cigarette resting between her lips; The bartender checks an ID, looking more and more dreary by the minute; theres a younger girl leaning against the railing of the stairs, facing the stairs, constantly glancing at her watch; an older shirtless man sways in the midst of the dancing crowd, swaying against the men around him; there are two girls watching eachother as they sit entangled on a red velvet couch; a younger girl leans against the licquor soaked bar, nervous.
Damien smirks slightly before pushing himself from his spot overlooking the crowd. His friend moves to the left of the pool table, her turn over - scratch, she was never really any good. Damien suffocates his cigarette in a sea of glass and ash before leaning his 6'3 build over the table, a small bead of sweat rolls from his dark hair as he lines his shot. "Do you think tonight will be different from any other night, theres a few good ones in here. The crowd looks al ittle different from the usual Thursday night", he pushes his loose hanging tie to the side before striking the ball. Alex watches the orange striped ball slide down the green and dissapear into the corner pocket, "damn, I'm not sure - all the girls look the same to me". Damiens face slanted as he leant down to take another shot; "I wasnt talking about the girls" he smirked "there's some cute young boys". this time Damiens concentration was yielded by a young passer by that filled out his faded jeans nicely. Alex shook her head as she made her way to stand by her friends side, she was sort to start with but putting 5'5 and 6'3 together made her look even shorter. She was cute, both of them were, Damien looking like a punk rocker in the new pop era, black tie, black shirt, groomed well. Alex your typical 22 year old lesbian, hiding her eyes under a tilted baseball cap, but showing her breasts and other fine features through tight bootleg jeans and a baby-t. "Maybe if you stop looking you'll find something" The raven haired beauty lit another cigarette and lined up her next shot.

Ryan starred down at the slick bar beneath her elbows, how long would she be waiting. It had been 3 years since she'd seen her brother they hadnt spoken since Ryan left for school. Here she was, in a gay bar at 23, waiting nervously and out of her element. It had taken her time to come to grips with her brothers sexuality but now here she was. Surrounded by the people she used to believe were disgusting and sinful. But now in her later years, after getting out of the small town she grew up in and moving into a college dorm out in the city she came to realize that neither of those things were true. And she was here to prove to him she wasnt joking, she accepted him and was waiting to embrace him, all of him.
The thin girl ordered another drink from the bartender, Jamison and Gingerale, he looked so down, not the usual energetic presence you expected from a young bartender. She left his tip and stood from her barstool, she had been sitting for almost an hour and needed to get her blood circulating, and away from the bar, or she wouldnt be walking out of the building. She took her drink and ascended the 4 stairs up to the game area. She took in her surroundings, the two younger kids playing pool, the older man leaning against the wall, waiting for the bathroom. Her eyes now rest on a single pinball machine, Star Wars, classic. She popped in a quarter and smiled to herself, that brought back memories. She and her brother had played this in the arcade down the street when they were younger, he always seemed to win. She took a sip from her drink and pulled back the pin. She watched the ball fly up the slanted machine and bounce around inside. Where had all the time gone? It was just yesterday, it seemed, that she and her older brother were wrestling over the remote, teasing eachother in school. She remember even then that he was a little different from the other boys. He hung out with the cheerleaders but not in the way that he was trying to get with any of them, they were genuinely just his friends, he played sports for awhile, he was good.
She wondered if he still carried himself with the same cockiness he had 5 years ago. He was a bold and sarcastic teenager, she smiled to herself as the steel ball rolled out of site. Just four minutes in and she was already on ball two. She pulled the spring loaded pin back again after finishing off her drink.
