I was working on my motorcycle the other day. I bought it in pretty bad shape and it's probably going to take some money to get it into any kind of ridable form. The mufflers are the biggest problem. I attempted to remove them, only to find that when it was laid down by the previous owners, one of the screws had become misshapen. So it's probably going to have to go into a shop and be worked on, which means more money. New mufflers themselves would run $500 and lets not talk about labor.

Fixing the bike up would probably amount to a thousand dollars or so, and even then I would still have a busted up, old bike. A busted up, old bike that has trouble reaching highway speeds.

Now with gas prices being what they are, the Mercury is becoming more and more painful to drive and the need for me to be riding the motorcycle is starting to become larger. So the idea of selling my car and buying a brand new bike is becoming more appealing. The only problems I foresee is that I have no real access to school when it's raining. I may have to move closer in order for this to happen. But then I wouldn't be driving as much. Hum.
