Our weeping willow 'sploded due to the accumulation of ice on its branches from the freezing rain Thursday. The ice is melting off of the top branches (so it really is a 'weeping' willow now), but not the branch that toppled onto our neighbors power and phone lines. Luckily, the power line is still intact, so they didn't lose electricity, but they have lost their phone (and internet), which the neighbor uses for her business.

We notified the power company, and they told us to keep away from the line - wise advice, I think. But since the power is not cut off to the neighbor's house, I doubt removing the branches is a priority. And the phone company won't fix their wires until the branches are moved - so our neighbors are irritated. Honestly, I would just be grateful about not losing power, but not everyone is me. Here are some photos of the tree in its current state:

Hardly an intact branch remaining. Good thing we were planning on removing the tree soon anyway.

Not all of the ice made a mess though - on the trees in our front yard, it's just pretty:

Also, I made a scarf (with pockets!!!!)

because it was cold and I didn't want to leave the house.
