If I cared for something like climate change or Prop. 8 as much as I care for the characters of TV shows, we'd be living in a utopia.
But alas. I take most of my energy out on nitpicky things like this.
Tosh WAS rather pathetic though; whenever I watch "Reset" or similar episodes, when Tosh can't even get out a sentence without second-guessing herself and flinching at the very thought of assertiveness, or like the end of "Greeks Bearing Gifts" where she could've stood up to Jack and said, "Listen, I don't really care that Mary was a sociopathic alien, she was the only one around here to give me any time or insight into how worthless everyone seems to think I am."-but she didn't, she just settled for the fact that people walk all over her and let that make her even more pathetic for a while. She frustrates me.
To be fair though, everyone in Torchwood fails at having a social life- her lack of one just proved she wasn't willing to pheromone people into oblivion or sleep with her boss despite his bipolar nature or fuck other people over because of her work ethic.
Shes just as flawed as everyone else though. She stalks Owen, after reading Ianto's pained thoughts about Lisa she did nothing to comfort him, etc. etc.
This show is full of loopholes and hypocrisy and you can't win with anyone.

And Owen DID rape that woman and her guy. That's certainly one way to stir emotion about his character. I strive to find a morning-after fic where that couple wakes up in Owen's bed and goes "Wait. WHAT?"

Oh, I agree entirely. Very few Torchwood characters even interact with people off the job and there was a whole arc about Gwen feeling ~lonely and finding solace in Owen's penis, so yeah. But something about the way Tosh was written as mousy in the extreme irked me, especially because I think Naoko is amazing and because Tosh had so much potential to be a bigger, more intriguing character.

And yes, the Owen dilemma is just odd. They never REALLY followed up on that - yes he seemed predatory and sexually charged, but he never seemed very...rapey again It felt really out of place and in retrospect was probably just them trying to be ~edgy and failing. :(
