Gakked from all over my flist, where most people are going, No tagging. Just do it, baby! Well, alrighty then.

Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of source or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've made, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

1. A House Is Not a Home - SGA, John/Rodney. To date, it's my longest completed fic, and the one I spent the most effort on. I still have issues with it - sledghammery in places, it doesn't flow perfectly, it could be longer, it could be more concise - but I'm really proud of it, and there are passages I love, and the response I got from it absolutely overwhelmed me. Also? I had awesome betas. So far, this is the pinnacle of my fandom career.

2. Apples - Discworld/Lord of the Rings, Death and Shadowfax. This... this is old. I originally posted this on FF.net - no, wait, come back! I didn't know about Livejournal then, I was young and foolish! Seriously, though, this was my first relatively popular fic, and even though it's pretty amateurish from my lofty position two years in the future, I still love the idea. No, I'm not going to tell you what it is. G'wan, it's short. :D

3. Loquatious - Doctor Who, gen. Nine, Rose, some seagulls and two gossiping biddies in a fish-stall. I like this one because a) it pretty much sums up my feeling on Nine and Rose and pinning down the vibe, and b) it let me set something in Whitby, which I visited three times when my family lived in Yorkshire. I have some damn fond memories of that town, including its fish and chips and its fucking huge seagulls, who really don't take no for an answer.

4. Carefully Everywhere Descending - Calvin and Hobbes, future fic. I'm kind of hesitent to put this here, but that's okay, since I was hesitent to write it. *g* Another relic from my FF.net days, it's a pretty strange story. It's about Calvin, having grown up and moved on, and there's something inherently wrong with that and really, that's pretty much the point of the story. Some small part of Calvin should get to be forever six years old.

5. All Places Are Alike to Me - SGA, John/Rodney. No, seriously, I know I only posted it, like, three days ago, and it's unbeta'd and all, but that thing got big, in many senses of the word. See, my problem with writing crack is that I think about it too much. At first, it was just a fun excercise in turning John's particular quirks of body-language into cat form, but then it got angsty. You can see I tried for the comedy there, but there are serious bits that I didn't mean to write. It's just - honestly, how much would being suddenly turned into a cat suck if you still remembered being human? After the fun wore off, it'd get seriously distressing, especially if you didn't know how to turn back. I suppose I love this story because it told me many things about how and why I write the way I do, and because people liked it, and that really made my week.

And, also? Because I got to turn John into a cat.
