bleach 270: ichiruki vs ichiori

Man, people are getting waaaay too batshit crazy excited about this chapter.

Nonetheless, I find it pretty amusing that both sides are claiming that this chapter further proves their ship is going to happen. Though, the IchiRuki side is quite a bit bolder and some go so far as to say that IchiOri is sinking as of this chapter.

Me? Well. Except for the fact that KT decided to go for a Ulqui vs. Ichi fight, nothing in this chapter really surprises me as the characterization is consistent. I mean, I predicted Ichigo deciding to save Rukia already three weeks ago:

This rescue mission was bound to fail. And of course it was bound to happen in a most dramatic way. So why are people even surprised that Rukia got hurt? Chad already did. And you can bet that Renji will be the next one!

Then Ishida will reach Orihime who will tell him that she will stay and he will have to flee before Ulquiorra kills him. Meanwhile Ichigo saves Rukia, beats some sense into her about needlessly feeling guilty over things she couldn't have prevented anyway. Then Noitora appears and Ichigo & Rukia are forced to flee. They meet up with Ishida who picked up Chad while fleeing and then they get to Renji and finally return to the real world. Lots of angst for failing their mission. The end of the arc.

Okay, I was mainly joking. XD Though I *do* believe, that
1. The mission will fail, meaning Orihime will decide to stay.
2. Ishida will meet up with Orihime somehow, giving her hope.
3. Ichigo, Rukia, Chad, Ishida and Renji will all return savely to the real world.

As for Ichigo not showing blind faith in Orihime... I don't blame him. Everything pointed towards her going of her own free will. However, if he really would have doubted her... he wouldn't have gone to HM in the first place.

Moving on to the things IchiOri fans say...

It never fails to amuse me when people plainly ignore the context after/in/before which certain scenes happen.
So IchiOri fans are mainly saying that Ichigo reacts violently only after Ulqui reveals that it was he who took Orihime to Hueco Mundo and that he decides to fight Ulqui because of that despite the fact that Rukia is probably close to death. Well, that's essentially true, although it completely ignores the whole context.

First, it's obvious Ulqui is there to pick a fight. He tries it by telling Ichigo that Rukia is dead. With that he's basically saying "One of my comrades has killed your friend. Look how evil we are." Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Because Ichigo does not fight without a proper reason. If it had been Yami or Grimmjaw telling him that, I have no doubt that he would have attacked *them*. Because both had already hurt some of his friends before. His "You yourself still have yet to hurt any of my nakama!" proves that.
So then what does Ulqui of course do? He proves Ichigo wrong and tells him *he* brought Orihime to Hueco Mundo. He purposefully gives Ichigo a reason to fight him. He's basically saying "Well, if you won't fight me without a reason then I'll give you one." and Ichigo *realizes* this. That's why he says "It seems that no matter what I do... This guy just won't let me pass." and attacks. Or does anyone seriously think that Ichigo could have gone to Rukia, while Ulqui just stays there, twiddling his thumbs? (Apparently, some IchiOri fans really seem to believe that Ulqui would have just let Ichigo go... *snort*)

Another point they make, is Ichigo's violent reaction after Ulqui reveals taking Orihime to HM. Before that however, KT makes it a point to not reveal Ichigo's face and instead only shows us his back. Here we are not allowed to see what Ichigo really feels. Is it shock? Desperation? Anger? What is it? We don't know. We only know that KT is purposefully hiding Ichigo's emotions here. Which, by the way, I think is a bit more significant than Ichigo being angry at Ulqui for taking Orihime to Hueco Mundo, which is a natural reaction when one of your friends get hurt.

In conclusion, I just want to say that I do not think that this chapter was overly IchiRuki. However, it as sure as hell was also NOT IchiOri.

And I'll end this post with one pic that I rediscovered on my Photobucket account. XD

Edit: I forgot to add, that Ichigo looks really handsome on this weeks SJ cover. *_* KT has really come a long way with his art. :D
