Well, today was an interesting day. I was supposed to work a concession stand at this thing called the "Festival of Books" UCLA hosts annually. Apparently the people of LA get pretty excited about it and swarm the campus for the multiple stands of books, etc. Anywho, I, a concession girl, showed up for work completely hung over from the most drunk I've ever been. Seriously. That is not an exaggeration. I drank so much for no reason, it's not even funny. Then I got high. My head was spinning like you wouldn't believe.
So I stand behind the register and am in a really horrible mood. I'm a complete bitch to this asian guy standing next to me, but try to make nice with the chick on the other side. Then I get bored because NO ONE wants to purchase barbeque at 10 in the mornning, so I start folding origami from receit paper. The asian guy next to me looks at me like I'm a freak. Then the customers begin to arrive, and the creepiness insued. I was told I had pretty eyes by six different people: One from a terrifying 50 year old man who invited me to some Hollywood party, one who had little circle glasses and a fishing hat, a group of 11 year old middle schoolers, a security guard, a USC guy, and another security guard. I was admittedly flattered, but also creeped out, especially by the hollywood party guy.
7 hours after this sorry shift began I realized that I actually kind of like working concessions; talking to random people is pretty fun, and I made friends with some hilarious workers, my favorite being this big bleck security guard who's also a stand up comedian. Fun times. Way more fun than my normal work at Jimmy's coffee house, which has way more mind numbing monotany. After the long day of work was over, I even had the energy to apply for a design internship this summer. I have mega doubts about getting it, but who knows? Its a toy company in san fran and it'd be way cool to have it.
And the moral of the story is: Even if you're hung over as shit, try to still do the work you gotta do, cuz you'll be rewarded for it......yea.......
