Whoa.
I dropped my dad off early this morning. I had a really great time with him tooling around town yesterday. We squared away all of my gear to include my IOTV and Kevlar. I think now both of us feel much more comfortable with the deployment since we both know my gear is good to go. We didn't do anything spectacular. I think he mostly just came to ensure that mentally I was going to be alright. I will. I'm just nervous about such a drastic change to my routine. I mean c'mon. I'm about to be in charge of the lives of 40 Soldier's in a country where everyone hates me and wants me to leave. It's a little intimidating.
But now whenever I hear "Carolina On My Mind" it's going to have a vastly different meaning.
I head out tomorrow guys around 10pm EST. I'll try to write as much as possible but I'm just not sure how realistic that's going to be for the first few weeks.
Alright, I'm out for the night. Kyle is taking me to a restaurant that has great muscles in downtown Fayetteville.
I'll miss you all more than I know.
