First off, I got to try out these bad boys for a little while:

They look so much nicer than SMN AF2 feet or Penace Sabonts.

Running around on them is like crack.. once you wear them and get used to them, you never want to give them back. Unfortunately, they are Kawaii property, so I gave them to another member to use for a little while after about a week of use. Are the worth the 80-100M price tag? Definately not. But you run so slow without them..

At least to conquer my recent bout of lacking foot speed after giving back the gaiters, I got my Ninja AF1 feet. Which somewhat brings me to the whole point of this post; my views on the recent expansion.

I have been leveling my Ninja ridiculously fast.. and alot of this has to do with the fact that I only level in the new expansion areas where I get an XP bonus via sanction. I hit 63 last night in a party with a Blue Mage and a Corsair. Here are my impressions of the functions of these jobs so far.

Blue Mage: Head Butt is a great move, especially at higher levels. It stuns the enemy, has a low cool down, is essentially insta-cast, and uses very little MP. Really a godsend for a haste build / DD Ninja like myself when I'm getting killed by double attacking enemies. Several of the upper-tier abilities that you would initially think would own, such as Sickle Slash and 1000 Needles, tended to "fail" quite reguarly, or not take effect. Blue mage is a great all purpose job though, as it can Cure IV (Wild Fruit?), Skillchain, MB, Stun... pretty much everything lol.

Corsair: I have now partied with 3 Corsair since my Ninja has hit 60. It's pretty obvious Corsair will level faster than other jobs due to Corsair's Roll (EXP UP). The first Corsair had a Mercurial Kris (Ridill dagger) and was just downright broken with no life and is now 75. The second one used alot of Fighter's Roll (Double Attack up) because there was a WAR in that party, which seemingly made my dual wield katanas more like a dual wield Joyeuse and Ridill. This was great for keeping hate. The 3rd corsair kinda sucked, using only Evoker's and XP up rolls. But hey, when you are getting 200+ XP chains for fighting VT-2 enemies because of sanction and corsair rolls, I'm not really complaining.

My one main gripe against Corsair is that Slug Shot misses WAY too often, even at 200tp. The Corsair I was partying with last night was super rich (HNMLS for years, 5/5 koenig, 5/5 adaman, etc) and was hitting only THIRTY percent or so of his Slug Shots.

As far as HNM's go, the only new one is Cerebres, which we have killed several times now.

He goes pretty apeshit around 15-20%, but in all honesty isn't that incredibly hard.

I was invited to a merit party as SMN awhile back, which is quite a rarity. It was in the new areas, and well, I'll let this speak for itself.

Definately could have been even higher had the BRD not messed up. Set up was NIN, MNK, MNK, BRD, RDM, SMN. I've pretty much concluded that having specific backline jobs for these parties is totally irrelevant due to the fact that by the time I casted Dia II on most things, they were dead. Hasting all 3 melee had to be somewhat annoying for the RDM though, which is probably why SMN is almost always replaced by a WHM or RDM in these parties.

Overall, the new expansion is leaps and bounds better than CoP and actually fun from the start, not trolling around in level caps zones hoping to get sea a year later (which is my situation after finally beating 6-4 yesterday).
