Wheeeee!

So Atlantis, how happy you make me. The plot was utterly predictable, some of the lines were too cheesy to bear, but it all still made me oh so happy!

-Oh god, Iron Chef host! I wondered who he was the entire time, and it wasn't until I saw sheafrotherdon's post that I knew. That is awesome beyond the telling and will provide measureless enjoyment when I rewatch this.

-I kind of wish Teyla had been able to kick Ronon's skeevy buddies' asses without him needing to pull his gun. I mean, I know this was far more realistic--but, but she's Teyla. Anyway, she more than redeemed herself with kicking Ronon's ass later. "Stop hitting me!" That entire scene was priceless.

-I thought Rodney's actions and reactions were all spot-on for his character. Yes, I cringed through the beginning scenes, but it was just so him. I mean, really. I adore him, but that also includes when he's being a jackass.

-It may just be the slash goggles talking, but I though John giving the fruit to Sam was less about Sam and all about just messing with Rodney. And that Sam knew, which was why she made a point to mention how thoughtful a gesture she found it.

-I'm glad they had a scene about Sam leaving Earth for Atlantis. I think it gave the just-Atlantis people a nice glimpse of the baggage her character has from 10 years, and gave the both-shows people a nice transition. But it felt very obvious that Teal'c was being written by someone who didn't know him. I did like his wild equines joke. Added bonus for people who have seen SG-1.

-Speaking of parallels, I really, as in waaaaay more than I should've, liked the parallel between John arguing with Carter about going to rescue Weir to the first episode, when he's arguing with Weir to go rescue Sumner. I mean, everything! Right from the beginning, with Sam mirroring Weir's awe when looking over Atlantis, John bound and determined to rescue his people, both getting a feel for the other and their future working relationship. It was just gorgeous.

Yeah, that completely sidetracked my train of thought. I loved Teyla talking about the Athosians, Sheppard's face when Ronon tells him he'll be going with his buddies, Rodney being Rodney...

And I'm oh so excited about next week's episode, there's just no telling of it.
