Leave a comment here, and I will:

1) Tell you why I friended you
2) Associate you with a song/movie
3) Tell a random fact about you
4) Tell a first memory about you
5) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you

Like panisdead, who I got this from, I may not answer with all 5 if not all apply.

1. :D Every time I look at that story I get this warm happy glow and think, "Sharks!"

4. Thank you. Those two sentences were actually a birthday present for a friend, who wanted people to post two sentences--any two sentences--without explanation in their lj on or around her birthday. I felt a little wary posting them to flashfic.

5. I used to watch/read more than I do. I'm pretty monogamous (well, more like few-gamous) in everything--fandoms, video games, and manga. I don't go avidly looking for new series just because it's anime and I wants it. For me, the deepest attraction is the art style. (As a kid, I was entranced by the snatches of Sailor Moon I would sometimes catch on TV.) That said, the art really makes or breaks a series for me. A lot of manga published here recently has mediocre art, and almost all anime is so cheaply animated I can't stand to watch it--i.e. Bleach = ♥ for the manga, but the anime = :( Another thing that's kept me from watching much recently is that lot of anime/manga teaches me that Japan/Women = the anti OTP. *shudders*

My favorites:

Anime: Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (understatement), Scrapped Princess (this is required viewing), Slayers (confession: never watched much, only read fic), Cowboy Bebop, Inu Yasha

Manga: Bleach, Tsubasa (for Fai and Kurogane and some of my favorite art), Vampire Game (almost no plot, iffy art, but god, so charming I could die), Crimson Hero (have horrible crush on main character), Boys over Flowers (for the obvious way the author decided her laconic bad boy love interest was much more boring than the guy originally meant to be the irritating, laughable antagonist with the worst hair ever), Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha, Maison Ikkoku, Hikaru no Go, Hana Kimi... Weirdly, the Scrapped Princess manga is one of the worst I've seen.

Um. End long explanation!

Yeah, I've fallen out of my infatuation with Japan, for mainly the same reason.

I'll have to see if anyone around here has Scrapped Princess. I never saw the last bit of Inu Yasha because it dragged out so. And I felt bad for how Miroku and uhm...demon-slayer girl got so sidelined. Have you seen Yami no Matsuei (Descendants of Darkness)? Silly series, but the anime looks gorgeous.

Vampire Game is too cute. Right now I'm really into Saiyuki by Kazuya Minekura. The art takes a while to get used to, and it's definitely better as the series goes on. I also liked Hands Off! by Kasane Katsumoto. Three psychic boys running around having issues but in such a cute art style!

Oh, and for absolute anime crack (as in, my god is it bright and addictive), you might want to check out Ouran Host Club. I don't know that it's been dubbed yet, but what are your thoughts on subtitles?

Saiyuki is forever tainted for me by how stunningly horrible the first episode of the anime was. Enough that I thought, "Oh, so, Weiss Kreuz," and turned it off.

I have read a few volumes of Host Club! Very adorable (and ridiculous), and the twist with the main character was nicely done.

Yes, run far far far away from the anime. But the manga is amazing--it's one of the few I've seen that actually differentiates different age groups. Sanzo gets flashbacks to when he was 13 and 17, and actually looks 13 and 17.

Weiss makes me laugh until I cry.

Now take the manga for Host Club and add color, insanely addictive music, and general craziness, and you've got the anime. It's so fun. ::shifty eyes:: I might have a spare copy, if you're interested...
