...when there is no court case, no police report filed, something like this is certainly no more than gossip and heresay!
For something to be considered 'news worthy' and to be reported on there has to be a court case or a police report? No smoking gun = it never happened?
Ruth doesn't even quote the page.
Why quote something that is no longer there to be verified?
I have seen the facebook page in question. The University administrators and the University College administrators have seen the page. Current and former students are identified. What has either administration done about this prior to it becoming public?
Nothing.
Since it became public?
Consulted respective lawyers.
And those current students identified?
Nothing.
As for the Top 5 law firms - think of the alumni that would come out of pauls and you would have your answer.
Every university college has alumni within the legal fraternity...but on speed dial?
...it was that the Sydney Uni college society (not just pauls) encourages or condones that, which in my own experiences I cannot agree with.
Turns a blind eye? Everyone does it...not just us? Just boys sewing their wild oats? If no one is prepared to go to court their is nothing/little we can do? It's a beat up?
So you've seen this page? How? If it was deleted in August, how did you see a copy of it? You've obviously been on top of this or close to the action, may I ask how you are connected? If you've seen the page, then Ruth should have seen the page - why could she not quote it? It's been archived, why can't these archives be printed (at least in part?). That is what I don't understand.
You state that College administrators had seen the page, yet Rev. Ivan Head said not two days ago that he had never heard about it until the Herald broke the story. So the page, or a copy of it, exists in the here and now, or was Rev. Head lying?
In any case, it still sounds like a couple of stupid kids trying to prove their bravado in a very dominant patriarchy. However, if the boys' boasts that they made on this page could be verified or some definite links made, then yes, that's a story.

That's probably a legeal issue.
I would hope the Rev. was truthful being a "man of God, man of the cloth." He is the top of the tree, there are admins way down below. (I think the military call it plausable deniability?)
'Stupid' they may be, 'kids', emotionally, not physically. Are they kids or teenagers or young adults or adults who should know better?
Same goes to your assertion that put studnets together and they will drink. Binge drinking happens everywhere.
So let's do nothing about it...or at the very least not get into a flap about it.
I think educational institutions like universities, TAFE, and high schools is the perfect place to introduce programs and events to address this issue not to hide behind high-priced legals because daddy can afford them.
