here's your post for emphasis of how we should be appalled and should stay appalled-
i was reading a forum on singapore's pack of peanuts we are sending to haiti.
the eu nations are pledging over 500 million.
usa are offering a hundred million.
china one million.
fine, we're not one of them rich ass countries (or are we?)
but 50k? seriously?
one american COMPANY is sending 100k.
brangelina are sending 1 million over.
seriously..?
is the sg govt smaller than an MNC..?
or a celebrity couple..?
i may be wrong and sg might end up donating more.
but at this point of time, i feel this is quite ridiculous.
what was most appalling was one singaporean's response in the forum:

US$50,000 is also money - it is still tax payer money - our blood and sweat. You feel not enough - then lead by example give on your own.
You keep of thinking next time singapore need outside help .... you giving with motive.
