today's thoughts: that's official
i was in the check out line at the arco gas station today just minding my own business about to pay for some gas when i noticed that there was this little old lady with white hair in front of me in line and she was buying a 40oz of Olde English Malt Liquor. I thought to myself, hrmph ?!?! that's really weird, and i smiled to myself. then, this black guy comes into the very slowly moving line and says directly to me in a volume only slightly lower than conversational "daaaaaaaamn granma finnin' ta get tha O'L E, that's OFFICIAL !!!"
i told him that i was thinking the same thing, then i didn't want her to hear me but i started quietly laughing.... and as i left i was still laughing.... and then when i thought i was done laughing i giggled a little bit more.
yesterday i finished three smaller paintings and today i finished a HUGE super complicated one! i'm really happy with how it turned out. it's huge (for me) 30x40 and on top of the size it is the most complicated composition that i've ever done :D but now i have some other things to do during the day than paint so i probably won't have anything else done for at least a little while... but yeah i'm really happy with what i've done in these recent paintings.
but wait there's more ! i'm thinking that this summer i'm going to write a book. i'm really just going to take an anthro article that i wrote a while back, translate that into regular english (ie make it more interesting to read) and make some changes here and there and turn it into a well illustrated trade book :) i'm kind of really excited about it and hopefully i should have some progress to show soon on it.
