so at the moment i’m suppooooosed to be writing a paper and doing other legitimate things but maybe i’m thinking that i should write on here for a little while.
last night i took arri to see twilight out at the (last stop before it goes on dvd) dollar theater. i really liked it and it was very much worth seeing. actually it was the best movie i’ve seen in a while, though i don’t really watch that many movies… but i’m selective about what i go to see. i like to avoid seeing previews for films but instead rely on credible sources to determine if a movie is worth seeing. i really didn’t get the idea that the film was supposed to be for only its target audience. i actually prefer though movies targeted at younger crowds because they’re just far more imaginative.
but arri liked it. i figured she would because she’s had a decent exposure to vampires. we’ve had a lot of conversations over the years about how the stories of vampires developed, what their weakness’s are etc. there’s this awesome batman vs. dracula dvd that arri and i have watched a few times, and ya know, lots of kids things have vampires in them for one reason or another.
but anyway i’d recommend the film. i’d say that it’s like hairy potter, only enjoyable to watch;) and i think i’m going to find the soundtrack when i get a minute, because the music was cool also.
i’m planning on moving this week but i haven’t exactly secured a place yet. i’m pretty sure where i’m going to but i should have something pinned down tomorrow or tuesday hopefully for sure. i’ve kind of started to like this place in tempe but i’m not exactly sure if it’s the best deal pricewise. but my goal is to get rid of all of my excess clutter in the move and have a VERY clean nay SPOTLESS common area. i’m just sick to death of clutter and coming home to shit just lying around the common area is driving me crazy. geeze the way my roommate now leaves a new pile of (my) dishes out on the counter everyday is kind of making me insane.
i’m also planning on getting a place with lots of tile because i’m sick of carpet. and if i have tile, or faux wood floors then i’ll be able to host some awesome dance parties.
speeeeeeaaaaking of dancing btw, i went out to this dance place “paragon” friday night with a few people from my salsa class. it was a lot of fun though i wish i could have arrived earlier but oh well. also i need to go out with people from my latin/swing/ballroom class because we learn so many more dances than in the salsa class. actually i knew all of the dances to do with all of the songs that they played. the dj was my salsa instructor and he would play a fast song then a slow one and then a fast one. the girls i came with were on key for most the fast songs (salsa class) but it took a little bit of effort for the ballroom songs. i did however do some pretty sly improvised american tango at one point :) yeah that was awesome and that means that i can fake my way through doing a not so bad round of american tango with a girl that has never done it before :D
after the paragon we went to this house party which actually kind of sucked. well i had a nice time and mainly because there were a lot of people there that i wanted to talk with but the music sucked and no one was dancing. then this psycho gay kid was super offensive to everyone at the end of the night and insulted everyone as he told everybody to leave. it’s rare nowadays for me to encounter asshole personalitied people, which in and of itself is nice.
saturday night there was this bbq at a friend’s house and the place (though i knew it going into it) was dance dry but i did my best to mingle and be social. though i went with my friend becca and couldn’t help showing her a little bit of rumba here and there. oh and i also gave a salsa crash course to one of the guys at the party. i explained to him the basic salsa step, a cross body lead and a bunch of turns and showed becca at the same time by having them practice together. it was really cool because he picked it up and was excited to try everything later with this other girl at the party.
