Dear Mr. McHenry,
I apologize for neglecting to do my homework. I also offer you my assurance that I will participate and behave to the best of my ability in class as I believe I have always done. Your calling me “immature” in class was embarrassing to me. Such critiques can be constructive but I didn’t find that one to be so. Since I am not an outstanding student I understand the need to state my wrong doings; but I kindly request that if they are derogatory in nature that you not make it the business of the class. Other things I would find offensive are generally demeaning adjectives and nouns, if they are directed at me while in the presence of others. If such communication is necessary please pull me aside out of the earshot of the others within the class and speak in a soft tone so that they may not overhear. Asking me to stay after class or scheduling an appointment for another time would also be fine with me. Again I would like to apologize for my negligence in doing homework, in no way is it meant to offend or deliver any message at all.
Yours truly,
Phillip Gifford
