London Calling

Errrmmmm... interesting day in the city right now. A couple of ambulances and fire engines passed me this morning as I was walking over London bridge to the office. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but I got into work to find that the end of our street (close to Liverpool Street) is completely blocked off by police and more flashing lights are turning up by the minute.

Nobody's exactly sure what's going on, but half the office has run to the lobby downstairs to watch BBC news coverage - many of them commute in through Liverpool Street station. At first they were blaming the explosion on an electrical surge but now they're saying it's a bomb blast. A girl sitting near me's been on the phone to a friend who works near King Cross and is reporting smoke pouring out of the station entrance.

Now apparently there have been four bus explosions around the city too and multiple deaths and our HR department has put out an email asking for the names of any members of staff not presently accounted for.

'Oh crap,' seems to best sum up how I feel so far. All kind of ironic, as the city was celebrating less than 24 hours ago, over securing the 2012 Olympic Games.

I'm actually a bit genuinely worried now.
