Generic summer whinging

Jul 15, 2013 12:19

That wasn’t the most enjoyable of weekends. I picked up a bad cold which further hampered my efforts to sleep, along with temperatures reaching as high as 30° and a son who kept waking up in his hot room and crying. We had no plans to go out over the weekend and I tried to keep it that way, since Amphi is now looming close and I need to be up to date on all my studies before we go… so most of Saturday and Sunday were spent in a small, unventilated room with two hot-air spewing PCs, battling an endless string of IT problems. I don’t know why so many things crashed, corrupted or had to be re-installed; maybe the computers didn’t feel like doing work either. While they were re-starting or downloading patches and updates I sat by the paddling pool in the garden with the rest of the family (we got a rigid-walled paddling pool this summer so that the cats don’t puncture it with their claws).

The main positive to come from the weekend was that the 3D modelling and texturing for the new Non-Bio music video (and also, I hope my VFX show-reel) is now mostly finished. I still haven’t rendered a single frame of the sequences I storyboarded, but at least I’m inching closer to starting that!

Fing I made

So yes, Amphi is almost here. With the exception of Castle Party, this is the last European gothic festival which I still want to attend but haven’t. Icon of Coil! Diary of Dreams! Peter Hepner! All the other ones (must read the line-up again)! Lande, Zachary and I leave from Gatwick early on Friday morning. I would probably feel excited about this, had I more time to do so! I bought a tourist guide book to Cologne but have only scanned through it so far - we’re only there for two nights after all. I might throw a few T-shirts, combat trousers, nappies etc. into a rucksack this evening.
