The Middle of the Year Show

Jun 30, 2009 12:48

Incredible! In just 184 days, one of the greatest decades in human history will end and we will all be refugees*.

I'd made so many plans for 2009 and I'm in a state of panic, now that it's nearly half over and there's so much still to be done. I can mostly blame this year's lack of progress on having so many short trips away to places, and the day-job expanding to claim all the free time these excursions didn't want. Well, the travelling's over, at least for now, and I'll just have to wait patiently for the inbox on my desk to receed.

My musical ambitions have been stagnating for the last couple of months, but I'll find a way to rescue them eventually. Whine Meal 2 is running way behind its original schedule, but I'm still cheerfully confident it will be finished one day. And, damn, my website is a whole year old tomorrow, and I've not even bought it a card.

The heatwave... everybody's moaning about that right now, so I might as well too. The London Underground is a sauna, full of grumbling, shuffling people with suits and body odour, and where the steam is seasoned by airborne iron filings and skin flakes. Among these shuffling people, you can clearly see which ones don't have aircon at home (myself included) because they've not slept since last week. This is most enjoyable.

This weekend, I foresee Inferno on Friday and the Kensal Green Cemetary Open Day thingy on Saturday. Lande and I will also be saying goodbye to maznige, who's been lodging with us for the last few weeks; she's heading off to a place of her own within the metropolis.

The weekend beyond that, it's the annual Cure Picnic in Twickenham. And then it's 2010, pretty much. Insane!

* Don't write-in about that. It's a throwaway comment and paraphrased, badly, from Withnail & I
