Watchmen

... is a good film, worth seeing. It's very faithful to the comic book - so much so, it's like some scenes, characters and dialogue have magically migrated their way from page to cinema, without any human intervention (apart from some of the more extreme bits of violence, and Richard Nixon's comedy supernose, which looks like it could contain at least 16GB).

The book goes into a lot more depth about this alternate world and introduces a broader base of characters, and for that reason I think is still superior to the movie; a criticism which I'd apply to the comic-to-movie transition of Alan Moore's other great work V for Vendetta. But it's a lengthy work, full of great (albeit flawed and complicated) characters and at least the central ones do get to shine reasonably well on the big screen. Nice eighties soundtrack as well.

8/10
