Sound effects

I have to say, I’ve not been at my best for the last few days. I’ve spent the last few months climbing out of my depression, and at some points it looked as if I’d come so far I barely recognised myself any more. It’s sobering then, that a handful of bad things have happened in the space of a couple of weeks and I’ve gone straight back down again, to a worse point than I’ve been at for a long time. The insomnia’s reappeared too, which has left me feeling and looking like shit every day at the office. I think Monday evening was about the worst point and I’ve been making a slow recovery since then, but I’m still not quite out of the pit yet; hopefully within another day or two if I just make an effort to leave work on time and get soem proper rest. This has been a reminder that it’s always going to be there I suppose, and if I want to stay out of it, I’ve really got to watch what I’m thinking and how I let things get to me.

Moving hastily on, one of the more positive points of this week has been the arrival of my USB microphone adaptor. I’m now hard at work every evening on animating my first ‘talkie’ and the results so far look promising. One thing I might need help with is locating sound effects - does anybody know of a site(s) where I can download free WAVs or MP3s of miscellaneous noises? I currently need the sound of a glass pane breaking, an audience clapping and a large bird beating its wings. I know you can buy CDs of royalty-free effects, but that seems like a lot of money to pay for hundreds of different noises, when I probably won’t ever need 95% of them. Copyright/royalty-free music would also be helpful, if people know where to obtain such stuff. In fact, the more tacky/outdated/corporate it sounds, the better!
