Have you really? Ami and I were talking about the differences of magic a few days ago, it does seem as if everyone's world has different takes.

Some variations seem to be the same, but even the closest of spells have different outcomes to them. It's pretty confusing.

I'd expect so. I suppose in a way it's a bit like other countries, while we may have similar customs the reasons for them or the approach may be vastly different.
