[Spam] Before he knows anything else is going on. Because I need to be terrible.empirical_dataJuly 12 2010, 19:21:31 UTC
[Data decides that he's going to go check up on the library and maybe some of the fear gas victims in the clinic. He has noticed people are acting a little unusually, but after the last few days their reactions can hardly be held against them. It is peculiar, though, and there are new individuals he has yet to encounter.
Again, nothing to raise any serious alarm while he's walking the halls.]
[Spam] Nothing wrong with that!voiceshall_echoJuly 12 2010, 19:33:49 UTC
[Oh, no alarm whatsoever. Shinzon left his room grudgingly, at the insistence of his stomach. He'd gone without food before; he didn't intend to starve himself because of this. Because of Picard. He walked rigidly, uncomfortable in this body. Well. Uncomfortable was putting it lightly, really.
And then he saw Data down the hall. That gave him pause. That was a reason to reconsider this. What had this flood done? Changed his appearance. Made him look like the man he wanted nothing more than to be. And there was Data, someone who knew that man well. Shinzon wondered how possible it was to step into Picard's shoes.]
[Data pauses as he finally notices. He's heard mentions that Picard was around for very briefly, but... had they brought him back again?
He gives Shinzon a look, none the wiser. He notices him walking stiffly, but after the last few days that becomes concern for his health and he moves to his side quickly.] Captain?
[There's a short flare of panic; the Romulans stopped training him for this before he was ten. But he learned, in the time after, and swallowed that fear.] Data, [he greeted, putting some emotion in his voice. He reached out for Data's hand with both of his own. Data died aboard his ship, Picard did not. He would have been torn apart by that.]
[A grin. That is certainly new; Shinzon doesn't recall Data grinning. But he offers a smile of his own in return, one of those small, quick ones Shinzon had seen so much. It faded, though, traded for a short, mostly hidden flinch.] After the Scimitar, [he said quietly, releasing Data's hand.]
[Spam] Apologies, I had a crash and burn.empirical_dataJuly 13 2010, 01:14:22 UTC
[His smile fades at that, and he looks around them at the number of people. It's not really a comfortable setting to talk about that. However, privacy shouldn't be too difficult to find.] Perhaps we should carry on a discussion in private. I believe I at the very least owe you an explanation.
[Spam] Ha, deleted the "Re" and not the rest of the subject. My brain. Not positronic.empirical_dataJuly 13 2010, 02:50:19 UTC
[They're not far, so he starts to lead him there.] I was informed you were here before. If you do not recall, I would recommend that you be especially attentive to your personal well-being at all times. There are several individuals here that harm merely for entertainment.
[He opens the door to his quarters with another check around. There's a few odd conversations going on, so he's supposing something is up after that bump they hit earlier. He'll ask if anyone needs his help later. For the moment, Picard takes precedence.]
[Spam] Hee! I've done it plenty of times.voiceshall_echoJuly 13 2010, 03:12:32 UTC
[Picard always takes precedence, in Shinzon's mind. It's a bitter idea. He nods, though, adding a simple,] I remember. [It only made sense; and Shinzon was well aware of everything that happened then. He follows Data in.]
I have been here for approximately a week, sir. [It was precisely five days three hours and thirty-seven minutes, but people tended to dislike when he rattled off the exact settings of his internal chronometer. He shuts the door behind him.]
[Shinzon dared a small smile, and nodded.] Earl Grey. [He hadn't had to force that taste. It was one of the small things that made it so difficult at times like these to keep from watching the line blur.]
[He nods and goes about putting a kettle on. Conveniently he had acquired some Earl Grey, more to honor his captain with an occasional drink than a taste for it. He was sure he could adjust his preferences to enjoy it more, though.
But it's difficult to come up with things to say. Should he talk to him standing up? Sitting down? He essentially died. He supposed it wasn't too long for the other man and him both.] What happened after the Scimitar exploded, sir?
[Oh, yes. What had happened? He'd asked that question for so long while he was here, and when he'd escaped Masterworld, he'd discovered the answer. Pacing slowly through Data's room, as if appreciating a friend's, Shinzon spoke quietly.] A good deal, Data. The ship's destruction became a spacial anomaly; I believe many have taken to calling it 'Shinzon's Folly.' [He tried to keep the bitterness out of his voice; that still burned at his chest.] The Romulan Empire has all but split into two factions.
[He quirks a bemused look.] That is an unfortunate name for the anomaly. The Romulan Empire has frequently been in a state of turmoil. Are you aware if Ambassador Spock has made any process in opposition to the Senate's state of perpetual acquisition?
[He goes to get a cup out of the cabinet, placing a tea-strainer in it filled with dried leaves. He does what he can to make the tea specific to his Captain's tastes.]
[He didn't know; but he doubted even the highly spoken of Spock could accomplish anything there.] It's doubtful; there are two Empresses vying for control of a splintering Empire, Data. Their attentions have been turned inward, for the past year.
[All his hard work. The Remans had a new home, they had some measure of freedom. But they were supposed to take the Empire, not suffer in its ruins.]
Again, nothing to raise any serious alarm while he's walking the halls.]

You have no idea how glad I am to see you, sir. [Smile fades.] When did you come from? [Of course, he has to protect the timeline.]
