So, show of hands -- is anyone else still reading this?
I migrated over to twitter for a bit, and I'm still there, but I've all but given up on trying to follow the massive feed from it, especially since I don't have a cellphone that can handle it, I can only check twitter at home. *shrug*
It's been a rather busy and topsy-turvy summer, one that I'll remember for the rest of my life, in both good and bad ways.
On a lighter note, I've had a nice run of entertainment lately. SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD is a fantastic movie, and absolutely worth the time and money to go see. Civilization V has consumed most of my free time for the last week, and so far I've beaten it twice -- once Domination-style with Japan, which the computer rated as "Augustus Caeser" levels of badass, and a Cultural victory using Siam (which is built around that tactic), which the computer rated only as favorable as Herbert Hoover. Ouch.
I've got a couple of creative projects on the cooking fires. Got a novel idea that's been percolating for two years, but I'm starting to think I need to shelve it and move onto an idea that's easier to formulate, as this one (the Lightbringer idea I've talked about here before) is just not quite coming together the way I'd like. Certain plot elements either don't make sense on closer examination (BIG plot holes), or require writing to properly convey that makes sense in my head as a vague concept, but harder to express in real prose.
Another project is the THREAT OR MENACE webpage/blog. The site exists (threatormenace.com), but there's no real content yet. Once I get a solid idea for an article, I can crank one out, but coming *up* with that solid idea is harder than I expected. I'm not giving up on it, though.
The last one, that seems to have the strongest legs under it right now, is working on a card game project with Keith Hays. Not a CCG, but something more like Chez Geek, or Munchkin, and would be marketed to that same sort of crowd. That's all I should really say about it for now, but we should hopefully have a working prototype soon for playtesting, perhaps by the end of the year.
So... how are things going for you, LJ people?
