...the dynamic between these two guys is fast becoming the thing in this world that I'd love to explore most.

Well, YAY! *We* win, then! \o/

Great vid. I love the introspective quality. I don't think I've ever seen a vid that has such an introspection-within-introspection-within-an-enigma feeling. If that makes *any* sense. :) It's like it's asking--or Fraser's asking himself--whether he'll ever find sufficient reason to come out of his thoughts about Ray and give Ray something real.

I love the choices you made here. The vid dissolving to Photoshopped stills in a few places, like snapshots, moments that Fraser's remembering as individual snapshots--loved those. They're very evocative of Fraser's thoughts, felelings, memory, attitude. His questioning--it's like he's trying to understand what Ray means to him. How real were those gestures, like the initial hug on Ray's part, and how much was acting? How much response does Fraser dare give? I can see him asking himself these questions.

I love how you chose scenes that show Ray's vulnerability and how he's really sort of waiting for Fraser to "get it." The juxtaposition of Ray kissing Luanne with Ray sitting in front of the campfire with Fraser, looking like he's hanging on Fraser's every word, and in fact looking much happier than he did when he was kissing Luanne, is just brilliant. YES...that's one of the most intense things I got out of that episode: the sheer happiness in Ray to just be with Fraser, and the way it gives the lie to any hints of his that he might have been happier to be sitting with Luanne. It's just so obvious that's not true.

And oh, that scene from Asylum where Fraser's doctoring Ray's wound. Oh. My. God. Yeah, they made that homoerotic as hell on purpose. What I love about what you did with it is that you isolated that moment and made clear not only the homoerotic quality (which could have been played for laughs like the corresponding Elaine and Frannie moments from S1 and S2--yet, interestingly, wasn't!), but the emotional depths between these two characters. There just can not be enough vids or fic or whatever to explore those depths. *sigh*

Amazing work. Gosh...I hope you continue exploring this relationship! I just adore F/K vids. The good ones inspire me to write, for one thing. Yours will be very inspiring.

Okay, first of all, can I just say how HAPPY I was when I saw this nice long comment here. Totally lit up my face. Hey, I'm still grinning.

introspection-within-introspection-within-an-enigma

I really like that. In fact, with the many ways it can be interpreted, it sums up the overall intended feel of the vid better than I could have done.

Your response to the 'snapshots' bit is really, really interesting. I mean, the vid is quite... loose, in terms of meaning. There aren't THAT many varied shots as much as there are long, drawn out clips (usually close ups of Ben being pretty and emotional, 'cause he does it so well) because all I really, REALLY wanted to convey was a feeling of introspection and regret. The rest is fair game. When I made the 'snapshots' I was using them more as a contrast to the rest of the vid. Whereas all along it's Fraser trying to keep his distance from Ray, those parts tell what he really wants, what he wants from Ray: a friend, a lover, a future. But, I absolutely LOVE your interpretation! I mean, GOD, it's so Fraser. Wanting to trust, but so uncertain. Analysing everything that Ray does to him, looking for a deeper meaning or a deception. I just LOVE it.

Just like I love your little commentary on A Likely Story. Seriously. Who does he think he's kidding? You'd much rather be having a big, gay, story-telling campfire session with your Mountie boyfriend, and don't try to deny it, Ray!

And, yes. Tending Ray's wounds. Arguably the most homoerotic moment in the whole show, in terms of the cinematography and how it was set up like a goddamn scene in a romance flick. ...And then the handcuffs come out, which gives it the kinky porn vibe, so, really, it's the best of both worlds.

Hee! I LOVE the fact that there is a little pup tent in evidence, and it is SO SMALL that if they sleep there? They are going to have to sleep in each other's arms. I mean, seriously. What were viewers supposed to make of that? :)

Oh, Yes! Tell it, sister! What I love MOST is how Ray LETS Fraser do anything he wants, including handcuff Ray. He is the utter soul of trust in that scene. Is that not the SEXIEST thing?
