Johnathan Coulton concert last night was amazing!
I had no idea about the venue, the opener or what JoCo's live show would be like, but everything turned out to be absolutely awesome.
* He played the
Lula Lounge down near Dufferin and Dundas, which turned out to be a nice, small restaurant/club. We didn't have dinner reservations, but we were seated in the middle of the place in folded chairs. Really cool place, definitely thinking about visiting them again for later shows.
*
Paul and Storm were the openers, and they quickly showed why JoCo has been touring with them for the past four years. They have a great comedy routine, some damn catchy songs, and were just overall really personable. On more than one occasion did I fall apart at their homages to their influences (Storm is really good at impressions - his Randy Newman and James Taylor bits nearly killed me.)
* Coulton came up and at first wasn't as effervescent as P&S, but quickly showed us all why he's so personable and popular; a quiet-guy kind of cool and fun. He opened with "Not About You" and the night began...
So yeah. That was my evening. Woo.
