First Ever Narnia Fic: Edmund wants, but can't and won't.

Feb 13, 2011 00:40

I'm trying for the first time now with these boys, but they've been bugging me so bad this week I had very little choice but to do as my Kings tell me to.

An annoying thing I noticed about VotDT now that I watched it second time: seriously, it seems in VotDT that the people doing the film editing were thinking along the lines of "uh-oh we can't keep these two in the same shot for longer than few seconds or it will bee too obvious..." Why the heck did they have to cut on the most interesting looking stares? They do it like every time Edmund&Caspian lock eyes. I wanted to see how it evolves! :S Someone on the production department must be using too much internet and hating fangirls!

And that moment after their mad-man fighting when Lucy left them alone... Caspian just walked away? What the heck, he fights with a man he thinks of as his brother for no smart reason and hurtful things are said and they don't make up?! What the heck! I bet they originally wanted to do a make up talk scene but then it always ended up looking too much like a lover's spat that they had to delete it. So instead, right after when they go back to the beach and realize Eustace is gone and Edmund goes to find him, Caspian tags along. So did they have wild make up sex at the cave or when they went looking for Eustace? (I mean, when they left from the beach they just thought he had wondered off avoiding work so they couldn't have been too worried) I hope some kind of make up scene comes out with the dvd in deleted scenes, or maybe they make an extended version eventually... *sigh*

So, back to the topic, here's my first drabble about Caspian and Edmund!

I found some inspiration here

Edmund wanted to kiss Prince Caspian, he wanted it so very badly. And he wanted more, too of course, but at the moment it felt as if everything he wanted culminated on that one thought he couldn't shake off of his head: he wanted to kiss Caspian. It was pure torture seeing those inviting, soft-looking lips every day, that perfectly tanned skin and those deep dark, intense eyes that so often seemed to look at him with some sort of interest. He craved to know if it meant what he wanted it to mean. And yet he couldn't make one single slight move on the gorgeous prince. It wouldn't be right and as if that wasn't reason enough for King Edmund the Just to not act, his brother had - as soon as he noticed - told him not to.

Yet Caspian intrigued him. He couldn't stop staring, couldn't help that when he entered a space it was the dark telmarine his eyes searched out as the first thing he could do. And every time he saw Caspian, the same urge surge through him: he wanted to kiss Caspian. He wanted to press his own lips on his and find out if they were as soft as they looked and if the kiss would have as much sparkles as their gaze seemed to have every time they locked eyes, He yarned to feel Caspians response, whatever it would be, and to see where it would lead. He wanted to simply let go of his restraint and see where the feeling would take him, and Caspian.

King Edmund was no stranger to this feeling, but the just-a-schoolboy-Edmund was. And no matter how he remembered the Golden age and knew he used to know how to resist feeling this urge, knowing how often he had not taken advance of a discreet offer or answered to a clearly admiring gaze, this thing with Caspian seemed at least twice as strong. So, he couldn't help but stare at Caspian for longer than he should when ever he could. He got angry glares from Peter, confused ones from Susan and somewhat knowing smirks from Lucy, who had always known more than what was healthy for a little girl of her age.

As a King one couldn't throw his affections towards just anyone and since prince Caspian was going to become a King, Edmund knew it was the same case for him. Even more, since he dindn't have any siblings ruling with him. So all he could do was watch and stay strictly on the innocent-friendly side. He knew he could do more, and he would if it wasn't for the them both being kings issue. He knew he wouldn't probably need more than am "accidental" brush of a hand here and there and some well innuendo-filled private discussions with the prince and he would have him, and that was what hurt the most. He just knew he could make the handsome man just as intrugued about himself as he was of him, but he also knew he couldn't.

And he so he didn't.

He simply watched, enjoyed the flip under his belly when their eyes met or when they really accidentally brushed hands and he enjoyed talking to Caspian in a strictly-friendly manner and always in the precense of one or more of his siblings, preferrably Peter, just to make sure he wouldn't mess things up. All in all he felt that the pre-flirting between them was suprisingly satisfactory just as it was, although it always annoyed him that he knew nothing more than a friendship could ever come out of it. In the end, he was sure Caspian would have wanted more aswell, but also he kept his distance. King Edmund had gotten used to this, but the just-a-schoolboy Edmund hadn't, so it hurt as if it had been the first time.

When the time came for them to leave, he saw many things in Caspian's eyes when they shook hands and said goodbye. It took him ridiculous amounts of self-restraint to not to jump at Caspian, especially when the young King seemed to be struggling with the very same instinct. Caspian's eyes were full of fierce emotion when they shook hands. There was sadness fitting to the moment and the same interest he had noticed earlier, but also anger and frustration, which Edmund was shocked to realize was directed towards not him, but Aslan. He could see the new King looking at Aslan with bitter anger throughout the whole saying farewells.

He must have shown the worry on his face when he turned to say goodbye to Aslan and was faced with a comforting look that couldn't say more clearly that He knew and he would do his best to deal with it. Nevertheless when Edmund looked back the last time, his heart was too worried to feel the usual jolt of excitement when he noticed King Caspian staring straight at him his eyes full of emotion. Only later, in his dreams would he recognize the gaze for what it really was: longing.

And only then he questioned if it really was such a wise thing to leave so much things unsaid and if Aslan really knew what he was doing. When he was back on the train platform, all he had was faith in both Aslan and Caspian. It was out of his hands now and would be for forever.

Since this is my first Narnia fanfiction, my muses would very much love to hear what you thought of it. ^___^  Pretty please? I ignored that dum Susan/Caspian kiss now just because at the movie theatre I was like WTF where did that come from?

EDIT: most of the spelling errors and typos and odd grammar should be fixed now, please report all oddities in the text!
