A word to the wise: don't rely on English academics for old-world manners and sensibilities, because you won't get them. More likely you'll get a paranoid, raving lunatic with a jealous shrew of a wife. Of course, this is just an opinion piece, so don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself.
I'm aware there are exceptions, before any acquaintances of mine get their backs up about this, but really, don't pretend you don't have the same to say about journalists or Italian women. Or Italian women journalists.
