In a 21 day survey of The Chico Enterprise-Record between March 31st and April 20th it was found that only 8 articles dealt with the issues of the disadvantaged, and none of them included direct quotations from disadvantaged group members. Rather, the disadvantaged were presented from a distance, as subjects of projects rather than thoughtful people who have something to say about their situation.
