I'm glad that you've finally replied - it's a great relief to see that you guys are still around! I've been on far too many groups that have died a very slow death because the mods couldn't be reached!

One thing does bother me slightly with what you've said and that is that you're not active within the fandom anymore. I fully understand and appreciate that this does not make you a bad or inefficient moderator, however, more than one member here has said they've had a small degree of difficulty in reaching you over concerns with this comm. And you also say on the profile to "ask if you want to be one" ie - a moderator. In the last two days, at least four people have expressed interest in becoming moderators and all four are reasonably active within the community. I don't think that it's fair of you to admit to not being a part of - or at least active in - the fandom any more but refuse to let people who are have some sort of control or say in the running of this community.

It's nice that you two mods are great friends in RL, but as said above, several members have expressed the difficulty thye have had in reaching either of you.

The issue with members only and anon comments is that people HAVE been upset by people hiding behind the Anonymous tag and saying things that didn't need to be said or said in the manner they were. Many of us join communities because we feel we have some protection against anyone and everyone commenting on our stories as we are in a place with like minded people where there is less risk of being flamed.

A list of betas would be nice, but I don't think it's fair for people to be MADE to get someone else to beta their stories. Some of us are VERY pedantic writers who pay attention to our own grammar and spelling as opposed to get someone else to do it. It would be nice to have a list so people can use it if need be, but I don't like the idea of making it compulsory.

If you look over the discussion thread I posted yesterday, you shall find many answers to the questions you've asked as well as seeing people who are ready and willing to undertake certain tasks like web design, banner making etc as well as what fandoms we want added! :)

PS - A small note - it's a bit hard to tell exactly what you're referring to as the text cuts don't show up in the full post and so there's no headings referring to the text!

We will make an effort in being much more availlable. My e-mail is now right here, and I'll put contacts in the community info, or something of the sort, so no one ever has trouble reaching us again.

Since people are voicing large amounts of concern over compulsory beta'ing, I'm thinking if someone who has good grammar and thouroughly edits their own work could just tell me, and be forever excused unless they suddenly start posting stories that have vast, terrifying amounts of errors, or something like that.

That would be great if you would do that, but the fact is, a lot of people still feel you are inactive in the community and thus not "accessible" in more ways than just email contact - which is why we're all calling for more moderators to be added!

I've answered my concerns over the compulsory betaing lower down.

I don't think anyone wants to force you into having another moderator and i for one understand perfectly what it means to have a real friend/family member as a co-mod, i also understand you feel a sense of property because after all it's your community, but in the end there's a lot of very active and involved people willing to help and seeing that you've moved to other fandoms, which i also understand perfectly, i think it'd be harder for you to take care of things. It's just that a third party may be tackling things easier and faster. Like do the dirty work. :) If any of you feel you may be loosing your vision of what the community should be and the original purpose of why it was created then feel free to share that vision with us. I'm not pushing, nor taking sides, i'm just thinking that anyone could use a helping hand. I've run communities before and i know that once you start getting into other fandoms and also adding the fact that you may also have your private life you don't always have the time or motivation to run a community efficiently and sadly that leads to staleness and ultimately, community death.

I would say appoint a mod for now, just to do the WORK of changing the layout and adding a website and adding all the new fics into the memories and friends-locking everything and whatnot. Once that's done we don't really need any more moderation than we have had and we can all just go our merry ways. So a temporary 3rd mod??

I think we want the layout/website/banners and all to be more of a community project, rather than just having a person become a mod to do them.

What I'd consider getting a temp mod for is to get the memories up to date...

well, anything like that, yah. :) I think nareshaninya could do that, if she was up for it!
