Cirque du Soleil~

So, guess where we were last night? A bunch of us co-fronted to see the Cirque du Soleil performance last night! It was a new one they've got, called Ovo. It was technically a dress rehearsal (which is how the house was able to get tickets for everyone to see it), but it was really like a proper show, and it was so beautiful!

The story was about some anthropomorphic insects in the forest who found a mysterious egg that this silly fly had brought over, and there was a sub-plot that involved a love story between that fly and a ladybird. Really, the plot was a bit cute and silly, but the DANCING and the ACROBATICS and everything else was really lovely and wonderful. There were performers bouncing off the walls and swinging from trapezes and coming out of chrysalides and spinning things with their legs and lots of other really tricky sorts of things. The costumes were quite nice, too; it looked like something out of a dream. The sensory experience was perfect, too, with music and colours and dancing. The colour scheme seemed to consist of lots of warm colours, apart from the green used to represent the grasshoppers and leaves. (It did take about thirty minutes to get used to all the noise and movement and intensity, but once we did get used to it, we couldn't take our eyes off what was happening.) I'd never seen anything like that before in my life, and I was quite impressed. A lot of us watched it, too. Mummy, Daddy, Morpheus, Noel, Hess, Kerry AND my younger siblings were all around to see, which means that we were rather switchy.

We must go again, once we've got more money (which will probably be in the distant future), so we can see another one of their productions.

fun, daily life, darwin
