SOTY Live!

Found out a week ago that Story of The Year was going to be playing at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. I was praying for my schedule to allow me to attend. Luckily it just so happened that everything worked out. As soon as I found out I was going to be able to go I went and picked up my ticket from FYE at the mall. My plan was to leave around 4-430 cause it was supposedly a 2.5 hour drive. So we wound up leaving at 5. We wound up getting there right as the opening band started. I don't remember the name of the very first band, but I think they were called heroine. Second up was Every Time I Die. They were pretty good but i'm not into the whole "screaming all the time so I can't be understood when I sing" sorta thing. I kept glancing at the pit from the side for the first two bands cause it was my first show in a long ass time and I wanted to see what the crowd was like. I've never seen so many people get thrown out so fast at a show in my life. People up here are extremely violent. It eventually calmed down after Every Time I Die. It was on now! From First to Last followed and they were awesome! State presence was wild and the music was kick ass. They definitely rocked my ass. Story of the Year was obviously the headliner. For those of you that haven't checked out the new album, I recommend that you do. It is a fucking great album. Tracks 2,4 and 6 offer some great solo's and the overall style of the music has changed from the screamo pop punk to a mix between rock and screamo. You would think it was a terrible mix but it is awesome in my opinion and even sweeter live. The pits for the show were awesome from the floor instead of from the viewing perspective. Even the bouncers were mingling in the pit. For some reason people found it necessary to kick people in the pit. Don't know why. It was definitely not the Fla crowd. This can't even measure up. But the show was fucking awesome. SOTY even did brief covers of guns n roses, metallica, bon jovi even a cover of candy shop by 50 cent. That was frickin hilarious. All in all the show was awesome and long overdue. My only gripe is that i'd rather have seen them in Fla.
