The Ghetto Strikes Again

Oh I wish I didnt have to keep using that title...

Yesterday I was uh attacked in front of my own goddamn house in daylight while ironically in the middle of moving shit out of this ghetto. I was making a trip back into the house to get some more stuff (making sure to lock the car behind me), walked up the little pathway to my house, and then all of the sudden this black kid in a nice polo shirt ... about our age ... was pulling on me to get my purse. Of course I figured I could manage to go 30ft more into my house and get the purse from him, cause it was all wrapped up around me, but then he got his friend to help him and dragged me into the street and started punching me while the other kid finally broke the purse straps, etc. Meanwhile, the whole time I'm screaming for help and yelling at people in cars passing by to fucking call the cops...

The guys eventually got the purse and ran off into a little park on the corner of the street, and I chased them to the edge just cause no one was freakin helping me out and I thought I could keep an eye on where they went with my stuff...that's when I realized my hands were full of blood and I should probably stop running. Apparently my head is pretty damn hard and doesnt have a whole lot of nerves, cause it still doesnt hurt all that bad. Well anyways, one of the neighbors finally followed where the guys went and got my mostly-empty purse back for me, luckily with my ID still in there (one less hassle), but without a phone and wad of cash that I had in there since yesterday...cause Paul & I were buying furniture and crap for the new house, and thrift stores/garage sales only take cash. 2.5 hrs later I finally got to the hospital cause it took THAT freakin long for all the picture-taking crime scene people to show up. And about 5 hours later I finally got back home with stitches in my head and my ear.

I'm just so pissed that I happened to still have that money in my purse! And my phone and keys... what a freakin hassle. The locks on the house were changed last night thankfully, and we have an alarm here...but the car keys are a whole 'nother story. Apparently all the VW people can do (for <$1000) is disable the ignition capabilities of the key the guys stole...but they can still get into the car! At least Paul & I already have the keys to our new house a few miles away, so hopefully my car will be safe there. Hopefully they'll think the >$300 cash is good enough and they wont come back for more...but that still doesnt make me feel any safer.
