where I'm at in life:
- sophomore, University of California, Irvine
- Campuswide Honors Program
- i love this program. I love the people. I love the events and the opportunities. It has given me so much, especially the awareness of potential all around us, especially in myself.
- roommate: Sarah Xie. She inspires me a great deal. (: I see much of myself in her in who I was before and who I strive to be. she has really made me reflect upon who i am and why i am.
- major: biology, premed. premed premed premed. the medical field beacons like no other. i have such an interest in the matter, despite the only minute portion i know about the field. sometimes i hate the workload, but i hold this ideal of the payoff in my mind. Despite much that has disproved my ideal, i have held steadfast to it, as it's so large and all-consuming, all-encompassing that it is self perpetuating. it's a conundrum; it will fulfill itself if i keep to it and not get jaded. Everything just takes a little trust.
- minor: business management. in keeping with my ideal but also adapting to the corruptions and errors of the world, I am very interested in pursuing hospital administration, health care policy making, and business in general. sometimes, you can only do so much at the scale that you're working at. In medicine, i will make a great impact upon those that i can reach. only on those i can reach. In hospital administration and health care policy making, i can reach masses. Indirectly, but a wider reach can do more sometimes.
- minor: education. this is where change can start. i yearn for the chance to cause change by instilling it in others in the beginning, because the start begets everything, right? Start off well, the world is your oyster. start off poorly, you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. if only, i could show the potential everyone has, give them a way to find ambitions, challenge them to be the change they want to see in the world. it all starts at the beginning.
- Anteaters Against Autoimmunity: i get carried away with too many things, but i really want to pursue this effort. i want to spread the news of how important the immune system is because it is the body's defense, that nothing can replace, no drugs, no pills, no implants, no synthetic device will every work as well. It is so crucial because it intertwines with both our mental and physical state. most of all, it requires preemptive care. more and more, the immune system proves itself vital in so many ways. I'll learn many things and pass this on to others.
- friends: you guys are my lifevine. i need you guys so much. you guys shape me through lessons learned together, inspiration, critique, different perspectives, support, encouragement, and just crashing and coming back stronger than ever with. i am strong in my ideal, but when i crash, burn, or falter, nothing but you guys keep me from losing hope and sight. Friends, peers, accomplices, fellow researchers and philosophers, we are all striving to find ourselves.
- family: i am so blessed and lucky to have what i have in terms of family. My father is my hero and for him, I strive to work harder than i do for myself. He deserves it and so much more but he's only asking for me to try. I have a long way to go, but when i get out there, you will be my first and most important patient.

okay on to more tangible things:
- AACF's forum on faiths, featuring Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism.
Gosh this was so interesting!! (: I am extremely secure in my atheism, but i do want to pursue a faith/culture/way of life that makes me practice what i believe. of the three, i initially identified with buddhism most, but i am leaning between buddhism and Hinduism now. I really have to look more into it, but i love Hinduism's pursuit of knowledge. Their values of constantly pursuing knowledge and challenging that we cannot understand is something that I have held in while because it deals with my main problem with Christianity, a blind faith in the Bible as the constant truth. Constant little conflict between soul and body, as Aristotle put it (humcore yay!), is essential to our mind. I really enjoyed learning Aristotle's philosophies because i could identify with them.
As for Buddhism, i will take a chapter out of their book and spread 10 minutes a day, 5 minutes in the morning, partaking in their Nam-myoho-renge-kyo chanting. But this chanting is unique in that it is not prayer. It is thinking, challenging, and finding potential held in each day. It is wishing well upon yourself and others. It's the will to bring about the change that we wish to see. It's keeping peace in mind and peace of mind. it's contentment at the situation and living beyond the circumstances.
- CHP Variety Show
There is so much talent here!! Again, this mostly affirms that I love CHP. The people bring awareness of how much we can do if we take the opportunities and put full effort into it. Although i do not have the talent or time to invest in this, i should put my full efforts into whatever i am doing because it will pay off. it will pay off (:
