Things Change
“Just great.” Veronica muttered, trying to move her hands again.
She couldn’t believe this. Here she was, her hands tied on a fence with duct tape behind a shabby motel. That’s what she got for trying to help some spoiled 09er girl find out whether or not her boyfriend cheated on her. Well, he did. In probably the cheapest motel you could find around Neptune. Seems he didn’t want to waste too much of daddy’s money. If she hadn’t been tied to that fence she would have laughed about it but she made a mental note to make fun of him later.
If she was able to free herself.
She tried to move her hands again, in an attempt to loosen the duct tape. So, far she had no luck. Frustrated, she let out an annoyed sigh. How was she going to get out of this? She couldn’t free her hands, so she couldn’t call her dad or Wallace. This really was a tricky situation.
Why hadn’t she taken Backup with her? Then this stupid boy wouldn’t have been able to surprise and tie her to that fence. And he had taken the chip with the pictures from her camera. Taking another look down at her hands, she wondered what she was going to do now.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Veronica Mars.”
Veronica rolled her eyes and looked up, “Logan,” She sighed. Why of all people did he have to be the one to find her?
“You seem to be in a difficult situation.” Logan grinned at her slyly and crossed his arms in front of his chest, clearly enjoying the sight in front of him.
“What, really? How’d you guess?” Veronica asked sarcastically.
“I think the tape on your wrists gave it away.” He replied chuckling.
Veronica did her best to suppress the urge to roll her eyes at him again and put on the sweetest smile she could come up with, “Could you help me?”
“I don’t know.” Logan shrugged and stepped closer to her, staring directly into her eyes, “Depends on what’s in it for me.”
“Right,” Veronica sighed deeply in reply. Of course he wouldn’t help her without getting anything in return. Though, if she thought about it, it was rather surprising he even ‘offered’ to help. She had almost expected him to laugh at her and then walk away. “How did you find me anyway?”
“I got a phone call.” He laughed and it dawned her that only the guy who tied her up in the first place could have be the one to call him. After all, he was the only one who knew where she was.
“And then you decided you just had to see it yourself?” Veronica gave him a slightly annoyed glance.
“Something like that.” He smirked at her.
Veronica raised an eyebrow at him but swallowed another sarcastic comment. If she wanted to get free, she’d better be at least civilized towards him. “So, you gonna help me or not?”
“As I said, it depends.” Logan answered. He had a very good idea of what he wanted but he would be damned if he admitted that to her.
“What do you want?” She took a deep breath and prepared for the worst.
“What you got to offer?” If Veronica didn’t know better, she would have thought he was going somewhere with this. She just didn’t know where.
“Whatever you want.” Veronica regretted the words as soon as they had left her mouth.
Logan’s eyes widened slightly and a grin appeared on his lips, a clear indication that she was in trouble. “Oh really?”
“Well, I mean…” Veronica stopped mid-sentence when Logan took another step into her direction and was standing now that close to her that she could smell his scent, reminding her of old times.
He placed one hand on her waist while running the index finger of his other hand up and down her lower stomach. Feeling a light tingle in her stomach, she shifted uncomfortable while trying to get away, which of course was impossible given her situation. What the hell did he think he was doing?
“I could think of one or two things I want.” Logan whispered into her ear, slipping on hand beneath her shirt and resting it on her stomach, tracing his thumb over her soft skin.
“Logan,” Veronica breath out more raspy than she wanted to. She inhaled deeply and tried again, “Logan, what are you doing?”
Logan pulled away and smirked at her, “Isn’t that obvious?"He moved his hand lightly again.
“Seriously, Logan, stop!” Veronica said more sharply this time.
“Why?” Veronica tilted her head and gave him an annoyed look, “Fine,” He grumbled and held up his hands in front of her, “Then I want something else.”
“And what?” She sighed.
“I’ll take a rain check on that and think of something later.” Logan said and Veronica nodded in agreement, wondering with what else he would come up with.
“I’ll hope you untie me before then.” Veronica quipped, hoping that would ease up the awkward tension hanging in the air.
“Sure,” Logan started to loosen the duct taped that was wrapped around her wrists, “So, done. You’re free to go again.”
“Thanks, Logan.” She smiled at him and grabbed her camera, “See you later.”

It had been a week since that incident and Veronica had almost forgotten, or at least tried to forget, about it, especially the old feelings it had stirred up, when she heard a knock at the door.
“What are you doing here?” Veronica asked surprised. She had thought he would come to her at school and not visit her at home.
“You remember my rain check, right?” He leaned against the doorframe and smiled at her.
“Yeah, but I thought you might want a favor some time.” Veronica replied shrugging.
“I had a better idea.” Logan smirked, “We’re going out.”
“What?” She looked at him stunned and she was pretty sure she looked quite stupid right now.
“You lost your hearing? Well, that’s not good.” He chuckled and then he walked in, grabbing her coat, “Come on, let’s go.”
“What do you want Logan?” Veronica asked but nevertheless took the coat.
“I want to go out with you.” Logan repeated, this time more seriously.
“I got that, but why?” She looked at him questioning.
“Can’t we just go out know and talk about the ‘why’ later?” Logan asked, slightly pleading.
Veronica shook her head in response, “No Logan, we need to talk about that now. What do you want?”
“You.” Logan simply stated and looked directly at her.
“You mean…” She gave him a meaningful glance.
“Yes I do.” Logan nodded.
“Really?” Her face lit up with joy.
“Yeah, now are you ready to go?” Logan smiled at her and Veronica nodded enthusiastically.
She turned around after getting her keys and saw him grinning at her, “What?”
“Nothing,” He replied, still grinning.
“Logan!” Veronica said louder, wanting an answer.
“All I can breathe is your life.” Logan chuckled as he saw her face, probably giving her the most meaningless answer she had ever heard. But he could hardly tell her how much he was amused by her change of behavior from defensive to almost childish-excited.
“Okay, that made no sense at all.” Veronica laughed, “Even for you.”
“Ready for an evening full of fun?” He smirked at her.
“Oh, yes.”
