The Veronica Mars Have-A-Day Challenge! :)
Have you ever had one of those days? A good day. A bad day. A day full of love. A day where you just knew you were going to be ambushed by an evil clown.
Yeah.
We all have. So has everyone in Neptune, California, for that matter (although less evil clowns and more crazy drama, I'd imagine).
Are you ready to explore all of the action that a day can bring? Yes? Okay, then ;). Reply to this post with your name and E-mail address, and I'll assign you a "day." This challenge is different than most fic challenges in that your prompt is actually a GRAPHIC. Because I have a longstanding love affair with my Have-A-Day calendar, that's the source. Confusing?
These are a few examples of potential prompts. I have hundreds of them, so please feel free to request as many as you'd like.
Once you have your day, all you need to do is write a 1000 word or more fic. You can use the day as a theme, or interpret it literally, or...you know, even write a fic where a big smiley face is telling Logan what to do. Whatever. The way you use the prompt is totally up to you! Some of the prompts are going to be harder to incorporate than others (whoever gets the evil clown, I apologize in advance ;)), but that's part of the FUN. There's a lot of freedom, and I can't wait to see how creative everyone gets with this :).
Sign-ups will run until June 8th. You're more than welcome to sign up after this date, but know that you'll have less time to write the fic. Assignments will be made on a rolling basis, so the sooner you sign up, the sooner you get your assignment. And, again, you can sign-up for as many as you'd like :).
All fic for the challenge should be posted to this community when completed. If it's not posted here, it will not be eligible for voting. You can post at any time after you receive your assignment. The final deadline for fics is July 27, so you have a LOT of time to write. Fics WILL be accepted after the deadline, but won't be included in the poll. So, in short, if you want to enter the "challenge" part of the challenge, have your fic in on time. The poll categories are not going to be announced ahead of time, because I think the sense of mystery makes for greater fic diversity and less "writing to the category."
To summarize, guidelines:
• Sign-up with your name and E-mail
• Fics should be 1000 words or more
• Any pairing/character/rating/genre is acceptable, as long as the fic is Veronica Mars-centric
• You must incorporate your prompt in SOME way
• Sign-ups run from now until June 8th
• Fics are due on July 27th
• Voting will take place for two weeks following the fic deadline
• Winners will be announced. People will rejoice.
