Putting out the feelers...STAGE MANAGER NEEDED

Dec 10, 2009 16:44

I recently declined a (paid) SM-ing gig because it did not fit into my schedule. And, let me tell you, it hurt my heart, because this sounds like a really REALLY fun show, sure to garner local and regional attention.

I do know that many of you are theatrically inclined...so...time to get networking!

The play is an original musical (le Cabaret Grimm, a punk-rock Grimm's Fairy tales), going up at the BCA for the first three weeks of April. I met with the director, who is super down to earth and also very dedicated (this company does one show per year, and they really focus on it). The company is an artists' collective whose works end up being theatrical performances.

The rehearsal schedule is where it gets sticky: January is the workshop month, and rehearsals are very time consuming. February you get time off while the writers and composers put the finishing touches on everything. March is for rehearsals, also pretty time consuming, but not as bad as the workshop month. All rehearsals are held in Waltham, so a car or other reliable method of transport would behoove you.

What you need to be: Uber-organized. Quick with notes, including choreographer's notes. Time-sensitive. Musically inclined. A Q-calling wizard. Able to take charge of and hold fast to this crazy show with equal parts domination, humor, and compassion.

Basically, you need to be me ;).

Website: www.performancelaboratory.com for more information. And if you're interested, I can get you in touch with the director.

Thanks, and if this isn't for you but you know a kickass stage manager who would be perfect, feel free to send this along!
