So after months of having one or zero functioning laptops, I now have two computer with the latest version of Windows XP, wireless networking, Microsoft Office (XP and 2003)... it's crazy. Each has a brand new HD (What IS it with me?!?!?) and will be spared from sketchy softward downloads. I guess having two functioning laptops will keep me occupied for the present. ;-) It was a bit expensive, and unforseen circumstances resulted in unnecessary costs, but I'm wiser now.
In spite of that, I'm feeling pretty accomplished. One of the laptops was a blank slate. I found the old restore CDs, then loaded the old version of Office and worked out the networking kinks and upgrades all by myself. I would still love to get a macbook, but I can wait. I have mobile functionability, internet access, and most of my files were backed up. It would have been nice to get the pictures from my friend's wedding back and some of the other files, but apparently the disk was just fried.
This odyssey has led me to discover lots of software that I had forgotten I own. It's kind of embarassing actually. Everything from drivers and recovery disks, to games, to educational software, reference, business planning... it just goes on and on. I should probably go through and get rid of some of it. Like, say, the really outdated course catalogs that a couple of seminaries sent me - I think before I moved back to Bloomington in 2003. *sheepish*
Well, many hours after I started this post (connection went down before enjoying dinner and the Stewie Griffin movie), I'm going to wrap, since I have work in the morning.
