Inebriation for teh win!

Ok, ok, I’ll make a post about Chigbo’s party… take 2. Well, it was a good party… save that Tommy and Andrew don’t know how to drink Vodka. The moment the stuff touches their lips, they cringe as if kissing a less than cleanly toilet bowl, and make a rather big deal… thus I had to show them how its done, and if you take a shot you really have to take it as a shot [though I think our shots were tad big anyways]. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. [though I have to admit it was a lot of fun until getting rather sick from said Vodka excess, but no hangover, so not all bad].

Other than that little chance to let go for an evening, not too much more has happened… the new 3di website just went live though, so I guess I should post a link: www.3di.ca. ! It’s still under construction, but is a good start. Made in house by our latest addition to the team: Wade. Very talented fellow, with more Photoshop and flash experience than you can throw a stick at. You might also want to check out the first cut of the Seal-weld video: http://www.3di.ca/3DI_SealValve.wmv - its not much, and no comment about the transition or ending [going to be re-cut] or the text - that’s the client’s fault, but it’s a neat little video based on the efforts of Sunday night / Monday. I could have done it so much better with more time, damn rush projects, but its also nice to also get something finished from start to finish in less than 24 hours [the video half finished at least]. Fluid physics for the win! [I also get to add another cg merit badge - first time I've ever done anything fluid related! And yes, that’s a patented, one way, valve that makes grease spin... for... urm, magical reasons.]

What else are we working on… polishing off PureLight [Tom’s now in the office fulltime, and apparently making good progress as Jeff ties up his last full time month], couple of architectural projects, some neat things on the horizon, and above all, getting prepared for a potentially massive demo to CNRL later this month… the centerpiece of which is actually sitting on my coffee table; an actual dashboard / control board from a genie boomlift [http://www.bidadoo.com/ebayimages/630996/1.jpg ], wired up, thanks to TR labs, as the worlds ugliest, clunkiest, and most counter intuitive keyboard EVER. That said, when its input is routed through Unreal properly, you’ll be able to drive a virtual boomlift pretty much exactly the same as the real thing, which is incredibly cool.

Oh, and interesting little note; hate to brag… but hey, this is my LJ and I might as well brag a _little_ … I just got a job offer for a fulltime Unreal 3 development position on a title for xbox360 and PS3! Not going to take it up, sadly, and it _is_ in Chicago, but I must have done something right for Alex and Steve to remember me so fondly! Really good to know I have a plan ‘B’, or perhaps ‘C’ now…

Anyways, should get back to the sink full of dishes, please check out the links!
