Yes, Ted, that does answer my question.
All factors at zero, there would be no need for any anxieties because there would be no negative social taboos to battle, either. Wouldn't it be nice if it could be that way. *sigh*
I don't think there necessarily has to be a medical reason for someone not to find a certain sexual act pleasurable. It doesn't have to hurt or to be uncomfortable to not give the same level of pleasure as something else. Consider it this way, at one point I believe (forgive my feeble memory if I'm getting confused here) you mentioned the difference between a hand job and actual intercourse when it came to stimulating the penis. If given a choice between the hand job, which is pleasurable, and full intercourse, which feels so much better, which one would you want to do? Who would want to settle for *good*, when they can have *great*? And yes, good can be all that is wanted at times, but wouldn't great be the preferred choice more times than not, providing there wasn't anything adverse connected to it? Trying new things is fun and exciting, but some people are more content with what's familiar on a regular basis. Not that they never experiment or try different things, but there is comfort in not having to be constantly looking for 'more'. I hope that makes sense, because what I'm really aiming for is for them to find a place where they are simply comfortable enough with each other and their relationship to do whatever makes them both happy.

And just to play devil's advocate here, would it really be so bad for Jack or Ennis to try both positions - top and bottom in this case - and actually find that they do have a preference for one over the other. Not because of any views on how it reflects their masculinity or in response to any social taboos, but just because it is what makes them feel the best, as a whole package, emotionally as well as physically.
