so there is this. i'm mostly sure it's finished, but that may just be me giving up. i've been having some issues with my particular style of writing, idk. anyway. roger/rafa, starts at the beginning of 2005, ends at the beginning of 2009, to avoid confusion over the timeline, which i'm pretty sure there will be.

this is so beautiful, and kind of sweetly tragic - you do a great Roger perspective, and your Rafa is gorgeous. idk what issues you're having with your writing style, but I think this reads great! (ps: texting! I love fic where they text each other. &hearts)

ohh, thank you, hun. for real.

(i just, idk, i'm starting to feel like it's getting overly fragmented, which makes it too hard to read, and to follow clearly, you know? ahhh idek.)

hmm. well, I mean, it's easy to follow if you know the canon, so it sort of depends on your intended audience. like, I have no trouble following along because I know what all the events you're referring to are, and roughly what emotional impact they would probably have. someone who doesn't follow tennis and doesn't know what happened at the 2005 French Open would probably have a more difficult time, I guess, but I think that's sort of part of the appeal. but then I'm a huge huge huge fan of "show don't tell", and I lean towards artistic obscurity over making things clear on the first reading any day of the week. ~shrug~ so, I like it this way!

hahaha i think that's actually part of the problem. i know that the stories of mine which aren't based so much on particular, specific events, tend to have longer and fewer separate sections, so. but i mean, i guess the other thing is that it's so much from roger's stream of conscious, his perspective, that it would feel weird having to explain everything, since clearly it's not something roger would be doing or thinking about.

i don't really like the idea of alienating people who don't follow tennis, although i doubt anyone who doesn't would read this, but, i mean, hopefully there's enough of what's going on between roger and rafa, away from the events themselves, to not drive them away completely.

idk. haha i'll stop ranting now.

yeah, no, I get where you're coming from. there's always going to be layers of understanding in fanfic depending on how deep you are into the fandom, you know? like, if I reread something I liked when I first started reading Roger/Rafa, I still like it, but I get it more. but that doesn't mean I didn't like it in the first place, if you know what I mean. I think it's the mark of, like, really really good fic if someone who knows the fandom likes it and someone who's never heard of the characters before likes it too. but I can only help with one end of that spectrum here, so. XD

yeah, exactly. i've had that with a lot of stories i've liked for ages, too. hahaha it's good to know you like it, anyway. and i guess i've had ppl comment saying they liked other stories of mine despite not knowing the fandom, so i won't be too disappointed if this isn't one of them :p
